These delightful charms are created from molds that I created from very tiny gumnuts, leaves and acorns I collected near my home on Tamborine Mountain. They can be crafted into small delicate charms for necklaces, bracelets or brooches/shawl pin.

Gumnuts, Gum Leaves and Acorn Charms
About the process and Metal Clay:
My pieces are crafted from nature. After searching for the perfect leaf, I create a mold ready to cast in Metal Clay. Each leaf will have its own uniqueness due to being handmade, replicating nature "no two leaves are ever the same".
Metal Clay comes in various types. It is finely ground to a powder to which a binder is then added. It is completely non toxic and easily mixed into a ‘clay’ to a workable form. After molding the ‘clay’, it is left to dry – I then carefully shape and file it ready for firing. It is fired in a Kiln up to temperatures of 950C (to sintering levels) in which the binder is fired out and only the solid metal remains. It is then cleaned and tumbled until it is shining. Finally it is polished and finished ready to be worn.
