This elegant fern piece was created from a mold that I created from very delicate piece of fern, collected on Tamborine Mountain while visiting some of our wonderful walking trails.
It can be crafted into a brooch, pendant/necklace or is also suitable for wearing on the Silk Wraps (bracelet). It also comes in a more delicate version of just the fern which is suitable for use as a charm for bracelet or pendant/necklace.

About the process and Metal Clay:
My pieces are crafted from nature. During a walk on one of our wonderful Rainforest trails on Tamborine Mountain, I found the perfect little piece of fern. I took it home and made a mold ready to cast in Metal Clay. Each leaf will have its own uniqueness due to being handmade, replicating nature "no two leaves are ever the same".
Metal Clay comes in various types. It is finely ground to a powder to which a binder is then added. It is completely non toxic and easily mixed into a ‘clay’ to a workable form. After molding the ‘clay’, it is left to dry – I then carefully shape and file it ready for firing. It is fired in a Kiln up to temperatures of 950C (to sintering levels) in which the binder is fired out and only the solid metal remains. It is then cleaned and tumbled until it is shining. Finally it is polished and finished ready to be worn.
